Public Safety

Since our inception, St. Croix Foundation has maintained a close working
relationship with the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD). Working along
with civic organizations and the VIPD, the Foundation has demonstrated our
commitment to making the Virgin Islands a better and safer place to live. As
a nonprofit organization with excellent public and private sector relations,
we have spearheaded a number of successful initiatives and developed
strategic partnerships to that end. Some of St. Croix Foundation’s projects
and partnership in the area of public safety include:

· Providing the VIPD’s Christiansted Bicycle Patrol Unit with a
free, fully outfitted substation in Sunday Market Square.

· Organizing and paying for VIPD Bicycle Patrol training, creating
stronger patrol units in our historic towns.

· Funding VIPD training at the New York State Police Homicide
Investigation Training Program.

· Securing funding for the installation and ongoing maintenance of
security cameras in St. Croix’s historic towns. (Through supplemental
funding obtained by the VIPD, cameras were installed throughout the
Territory on all three islands.)
