As an extension of our Model Schools Initiative, the Sprint to Excellence Grant Program seeks to support 21st Century best practices in St. Croix’s public and small private and parochial schools.
Sprint to Excellence (STE) grants, of up to $10,000 per school, will be awarded for high impact academic-based projects that serve to enhance student engagement, teacher quality and innovative instruction. To ensure the highest degree of accountability and focus in meeting outlined goals and timelines, strict reporting guidelines and phased grant award disbursements have been developed.
Sprint to Excellence Grant Proposals must be modeled after proven successful programs, including some of the projects which were implemented during Phase I of the Foundation’s Model Schools Initiative. Grants will be awarded in specific programmatic areas, including:
1) Professional Development & Innovative Instruction
2) Literacy Enrichment and Assessment
3) Discipline and Classroom Management
4) Mentoring and Personal Development
Eligible proposal must adhere to established funding criteria. The application deadline is Monday, October 31st, 2011 and proposals should be emailed to staff@stxfoundation.org or posted to: St. Croix Foundation * Attention: Sprint To Excellence Grant* 1023 Market Street* Christiansted, VI 00820.
St. Croix Foundation hopes to expand this initiative to the entire Territory in the near future. For now however, only St. Croix teachers, principals and support staff at eligible schools are invited to apply.
