Resource Binder
The issue of discipline and structure is a highly sensitive one in our community today, taking into consideration the fact that few campuses in the Territory are spared the ravages of violence and chronic disciplinary infractions. One thing becomes evident when you take a holistic look at many of our schools today- far too many of our teachers and administrators are being distracted from the business of teaching and learning as focus continues to shift from instruction to behavioral management.
In response, the Foundation built a comprehensive Classroom Management Resource Binder in collaboration with a network of stateside model school partners and Elena Christian Junior High faculty. The Binder outlines every procedure for all aspects of school routine—from how to walk between classrooms and assemble in the auditorium to how to turn in homework (and account for not doing homework).
The Foundation also compiled data on model programs from high-performing schools, created sample forms and gave one comprehensive Classroom Management Resource Binder to every faculty member at ECJH free of charge. Our resource binder ultimately represents one of the Foundation’s most successful projects—one we hope will be replicated at other schools committed to addressing the issue of discipline and structure.
