St. Croix Foundation
Established in 1990 in the wake of Hurricane Hugo, St. Croix Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit corporation that strives to fulfill our mission of fostering economic and social development on the island of St. Croix and throughout the US Virgin Islands. As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical community foundation, we have provided leadership and have been a catalyst in bringing together diverse groups to address complex problems and forge long-term solutions.
While the traditional role of community foundations is to serve as conduits and repositories of philanthropic funds, St. Croix Foundation has chosen a broader mandate, serving as a hybrid organization, providing both grants and direct services in a multitude of programmatic focus areas. Over the past 20 years, we have directed millions of dollars in resources toward critical and social and economic issues as we strive to address the root causes of entrenched problems facing our community.
Operating with a small staff and limited financial resources, since our inception, St. Croix Foundation has introduced and successfully executed a number of noteworthy initiatives for the community. From youth philanthropy to historic restoration, St. Croix Foundation has positioned itself as a Community Leader in St. Croix AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS.
Our Vision for the future entails supporting the transformation of a more collaborative, relevant and high performing Public Educational System—one which provides the kinds of learning opportunities for our young people that fully prepares them to meet the challenges of the changing world in which we live. Additionally, as one of the primary objectives of our Founders, supporting good public sector governance will continue to be an overarching mission of the St. Croix Foundation.
Currently, the U.S. Virgin Islands is facing a broad range of social and economic issues, but we believe that our community is capable of effectively addressing and solving these problems. The St. Croix Foundation stands ready to collaborate, to be innovative, and to fulfill a grander Mission and Vision of Leadership In Service To Our Community!
